Derek Brunson‘s stellar performance was evident in his first fight with PFL.
During the main card of the 2023 PFL Championship at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., Brunson (24-9) delivered a dominating performance against Ray Cooper III (25-9-1), securing unanimous scores of 30-27, 30-25, and 30-25 using his exceptional wrestling techniques.
Attempting a spinning heel kick early in the fight, Brunson’s resilience was evident as he controlled the fight and utilized his wrestling expertise to gain a decisive advantage. Despite a few attempts by Cooper to regain control, Brunson maintained his strength, and emerged victorious with unrivaled determination.
The fight marked Brunson’s debut in the PFL after departing the UFC. His resilient performance was noteworthy after experiencing a loss to Dricus Du Plessis in March, concluding his 21-fight stint with the UFC that began in 2012.
