It seems like DSK will be receiving the ball more frequently.
The Kentucky Wildcats are gearing up for a showdown with the Tennessee Volunteers this Saturday evening, in what is likely to be their most impressive offensive performance of the season as they try to challenge the Vols for the win.
Although the passing game for Kentucky has been disappointing so far this season, the running game has once again been strong, led by Ray Davis.
Despite Davis’ success, another transfer running back, Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, hasn’t received as much playing time as expected. Sumo-Karngbaye, who transferred from NC State, played well during his time in Raleigh and according to Mark Stoops, will have a larger role in the team’s final five games.
“Demie is a perfect example of a player we need to get the ball to,” Stoops said during his weekly radio show. “He’s too talented of a football player. He excels in the backfield. We don’t want to take touches away from Ray, who has been exceptional for us, but Demie is versatile, and we can utilize him in certain ways.
“He’s a great example of a player you’ll see more of in the second half of the season.”
So far this year, Sumo-Karngbaye has recorded 13 carries for 125 yards and one touchdown. He has also caught nine receptions for 38 yards. It seems like the BBN will be witnessing a lot more of this versatile back.
It will be exciting to see how Liam Coen incorporates him into the game plan, starting with this Saturday’s matchup against the Volunteers.
