De’Aaron Fox has seen a massive improvement in his 3-point shooting during the 2023-24 NBA season.
It’s not a fluke as Kings assistant coach Luke Loucks, who worked closely with Fox in the offseason, revealed some of the methods they used to enhance Fox’s skills behind the arc in a chat with NBC Sports California’s Kyle Draper on Sactown Sports 1140.
Loucks disclosed that one part of the training regimen included shooting workouts with Warriors icon Steph Curry. He shared a remarkable story about Fox’s first training session with Curry, describing how intense it was and how it made Fox realize the level of work required to succeed.
Previously, Fox averaged 32.1 percent from 3-point range in his first six NBA seasons. However, he has significantly increased his shooting to 37.2 percent in the current season’s 10 games. Even in a small sample size, his growing confidence in his shot is evident.
Loucks attributed Fox’s improvement, both physically and mentally, to the workouts with Curry. Their training sessions intensified Fox’s shooting skills, and this has translated onto the court.
There’s also acknowledgment from Fox’s wife, Recee, about Loucks’ role in pushing him to enhance his shooting.
As Fox progresses from an All-Star to an MVP-caliber player, his 3-point shooting will play a crucial role in his journey.
