Daryl Worley Placed on Injured Reserve, Kenyan Drake Elevated – Unveiling Ravens’ Latest Roster Adjustments

The Baltimore Ravens have made some significant changes to their roster ahead of their highly anticipated Week 5 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

One notable move is placing veteran safety Daryl Worley on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury. This unfortunate circumstance means Worley will be sidelined for at least the next four games. On a positive note, the Ravens have elevated running back Kenyan Drake and wide receiver Laquon Treadwell from the practice squad.

Worley sustained his injury during the Ravens’ Week 4 victory over the Cleveland Browns. He has been a standout player this season, especially in Week 3 when he played an impressive career-high 102 snaps – 76 on defense and 26 on special teams. In Worley’s absence, Arthur Maulet exhibited his skills as a nickel corner, receiving significant playing time against the Browns.

Interestingly, Maulet may continue to have a prominent role as a nickel corner in Sunday’s game against the Steelers, his former team for the past two seasons. The Steelers released Maulet in May after the two parties failed to come to an agreement on a contract extension.

Additionally, the Ravens could welcome safety Marcus Williams back for Sunday’s game, as he has been removed from the injury report. With the presence of Williams, along with Kyle Hamilton and Geno Stone at safety, Worley’s absence wouldn’t have had a significant impact on the defense.

As for the running back position, Drake will be joining Gus Edwards and Justice Hill in the backfield rotation. Hill, who has been dealing with foot and hamstring injuries, participated fully in Friday’s practice session but is still listed as questionable. Drake’s arrival provides valuable depth as both a runner and receiver out of the backfield. The Ravens have consistently carried three running backs each week and have decided not to sign rookie running back Keaton Mitchell to the active roster at this time.

Finally, wide receiver Laquon Treadwell made his presence felt in Week 4 against the Browns, playing 17 offensive snaps and 18 on special teams. With Odell Beckham Jr. expected to play despite an ankle injury and Rashod Bateman fully participating in practice this week, the Ravens’ wide receiver rotation is poised to be healthier. However, Treadwell provides extra depth at the position, especially with Tylan Wallace currently on the injured reserve list.
