DAYTON — The Wright State cross country teams will host the 2023 Horizon League Championships on Saturday, October 28, at Fairborn Community Park.
The men’s 8,000-meter race will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the women’s 6,000-meter race at noon. The award ceremony will commence shortly after at 1 p.m. Each vehicle entering the meet will be charged a fee of $5.

CHAMPIONSHIP REWIND
Both the Wright State men’s and women’s cross country teams achieved ninth-place finishes at the previous year’s Horizon League Championship. Alicia Neumeier and former Raider Max Pettit stood out for WSU by receiving Second Team All-League honors. Neumeier recorded an impressive 11th place finish in the women’s 6,000-meter race, completing it in 22:22.6, while Pettit secured 14th place in the men’s 8,000-meter race, finishing in 25:27.6.
LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders participated in the Wild Bill Invite held at Fairborn Community Park last Friday, which featured the same courses as the upcoming Horizon League Championships.
Five individuals from the Raiders successfully completed the women’s 6,000-meter race. Alycea Lemmon led the way with a fourth-place finish and a time of 24:59.9. She was followed by Sydney Thompson in sixth place (25:04.9), Elle Lambert in ninth place (26:35.1), Cecelia Alexander in tenth place (26:44.0), and Carly Biederman in 15th place (30:13.9).
Nathan Picklesimer emerged as WSU’s top finisher in the men’s 8,000-meter race, securing 13th place overall with a time of 28:38.3. John Steimle (17th, 28:53.0), Nathan Childs (20th, 29:18.9), and David Steimle (22nd, 30:15.9) completed the Raider men’s lineup in the 8K race.
UP NEXT
Following the Horizon League Championships, the Raiders will compete at the Great Lakes Regional Championship on Friday, November 10, at the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin. The top two teams from each regional competition will automatically advance to the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
