Former champion Conor McGregor could be making his UFC return in the summer rather than April, as initially hoped, his coach has revealed.
Following a broken leg injury in his loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021, McGregor’s return was set to be against Michael Chandler in 2023.
However, a heated saga between the UFC and the United States Anti-Doping Agency has delayed the comeback, with UFC 300 in April being the speculated return date, until recent developments.
Speaking on The MMA Hour, coach John Kavanagh expressed uncertainty about the change in schedule and discussed the impact of McGregor’s absence on his mental health.
Kavanagh emphasized the importance of McGregor’s training and the short window for a fighter’s career, before reflecting on McGregor’s previous matches and victories.
McGregor, who previously held both the featherweight and lightweight titles simultaneously, is eagerly anticipated to make his return to the octagon.
