Connor Bedard makes NHL history with electric night vs. Lightning originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
The Chicago Blackhawks’ rising star, Connor Bedard, had a breakthrough on Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, showcasing his exceptional talent and making hockey history in the process.
Bedard’s outstanding performance included three points in the first period alone, with two goals and an assist, setting the stage for a remarkable game.
Notably, Bedard’s assist on Corey Perry’s second period power play goal solidified the Blackhawks’ lead at 5-2.
According to Stathead, Bedard’s achievement makes him the youngest player in NHL history to achieve four points in a game since Bep Guidolin in Feb. 1944.
Additionally, the young phenom is now the record-holder for the youngest player to score two goals and provide two assists in a single NHL game.
Furthermore, Bedard’s exceptional performance made him the first Blackhawks rookie to achieve four points in a game since Alex DeBrincat in 2018.
Despite his impressive performance, Bedard narrowly missed out on becoming the youngest player in NHL history to score a hat trick.
