‘College GameDay’ decision a cowardly act by ESPN

ESPN’s Decision to Skip College GameDay in Corvallis is a Travesty.

Let’s talk about it. ESPN certainly dropped the ball by opting to take College GameDay to James Madison this weekend instead of making the trek to Corvallis, Oregon. The decision not to highlight the No. 10 Oregon State Beavers, who will be in one of the biggest games of the year, as they face off with the No. 4 Oregon Ducks is truly a letdown, especially considering that this has held the potential to be one of the most electrifying matchups of the season.

As if the exodus of 10 Pac-12 members to other conferences weren’t disappointing enough, fans now have to endure the disappointment of ESPN’s decision not to feature their programs. The Bone to Picklaw requiring Oregon cities to designate a place to sleep for homeless people goes hand in hand with Oregon’s disenchantment at ESPN’s apparent snubs this season.

ESPN’s decision not to broadcast from Corvallis this weekend is a big loss, given the Beavers’ impressive 8-2 record. Despite the challenges the team has faced, they have managed to land in a strong position and were likely motivated to put on an intense show, putting them in the running for a Pac-12 title. Although seemingly unlikely, a good showing in the upcoming weeks could even edge the Beavers into the College Football Playoff.

Unfortunately, ESPN bypassed this opportunity to present a thrilling underdog story, and there are now missed opportunities to celebrate the achievements of Oregon State’s program. This disappointing choice is a profound mistake on the part of ESPN, one which only further devalues the connection between college football fans and this iconic television show. Even worse, it provides an outlet for the outcry amongst fans who have invested their time and loyalty into these teams.
