Outkick’s Clay Travis made headlines when he boldly claimed that a high school boys team could easily outplay the best team in the WNBA. Now, Adam Ferrone, co-host of Pat Beverly’s podcast, has taken up the challenge.
Ferrone publicly expressed his willingness to back the WNBA team in the bet, confidently calling out Travis to organize the match. In response, Beverly backed up Ferrone’s statement, confirming that he had a million dollars ready to back the WNBA team.
It’s worth noting that Travis first made these comments in February, but they resurfaced after the Aces secured their second consecutive championship. His remarks sparked a wave of criticism from the online community, with many arguing that his comments disrespect the WNBA. Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray even went as far as calling Travis a “dumbass” in response to his claim.
Travis remained undeterred and issued a challenge to the Aces, proposing a $1 million bet where a 2024 high school boys’ state champion team would face off against the Aces. Whether Travis will accept the bet and if either team will be interested remains to be seen.
