In a surprising turn of events, Penn State announced the commitment of high school quarterback Bekkem Kritza in the Class of 2025, shortly after parting ways with its offensive coordinator.
Hailing from Boulder, Colorado, Kritza, rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports and the 247Sports composite rankings, declared his allegiance to the Nittany Lions on Tuesday evening. He is considered the top player in Colorado and the 30th QB in the Class of 2025 according to the 247Sports composite rankings, and is also rated as a four-star talent by Rivals.
Kritza’s decision to commit to Penn State over offers from Texas A&M and in-state options Colorado and Colorado State comes after he visited the campus for the recent Michigan game. Penn State’s offer was extended to Kritza on the same day as his first unofficial visit in March. Other contenders for Kritza’s commitment included Miami and Washington.
What makes Kritza’s commitment noteworthy is the timing, as it provides a positive turn amid recent coaching issues. With Penn State’s Class of 2025 now having 6 members, the team remains in the top 10 rankings early on, currently holding the no. 6 spot in the most recent composite rankings from 247Sports.
