Chipotle Renamed a Store After Travis Kelce’s Tweets

Discover how Travis Kelce’s tweets from over a decade ago led to a unique tribute at a Chipotle restaurant.

Recently, unearthed tweets from the NFL star, some dating as far back as 2009, gained widespread attention online. Despite the potential for old social media posts to create controversy for public figures, the only thing revealed by Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s tweets on X (formerly known as Twitter) was his affection for Chipotle — and his aversion to autocorrect.

Kelce’s vintage posts often referenced Chipotle, but fans had a great time teasing him for consistently misspelling the popular chain’s name. “Went from class to therapy, now I need some #chipolte and then I’m off to check out my new apt,” Kelce wrote on April 27, 2011.

Following this, Chipotle decided to rename one of its Kansas City restaurant locations to “Chipolte,” in honor of Kelce’s tweets. The rebranding took place ahead of Monday’s game between the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, where Kelce’s brother Jason is a player.

The renamed store is conveniently located just minutes from Arrowhead Stadium, where the Kelce brothers faced off. This marked their first matchup since the 2023 Super Bowl and the Eagles’ first victory over the Chiefs since 2009.

Last week, Travis took a break from the field to attend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show in Buenos Aires. Travis and the Grammy Award winner, who have been romantically linked since September, savored Argentinian cuisine before sharing tender moments during her performance.

During the concert, one of the most unforgettable highlights was when Swift altered the lyrics of her song “Karma” to mention Travis, captivating the audience. As seen in the video shared by a concertgoer, Travis stood next to the singer’s father, Scott Kingsley Swift, in the VIP tent while Swift performed “Karma.”

Swift then playfully changed the song’s lyrics to “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me,” causing Travis to beam with joy. The “Blank Space” singer’s father also expressed his delight and clapped in support.
