Charlie Campbell wants five UFC fights in 2024: ‘I could finish anybody’

Charlie Campbell is set to become a busy fighter in 2024. After an unsuccessful attempt on Dana White’s Contender Series, Campbell (8-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) finally got his big break and impressed in his debut when he defeated Alex Reyes in the first round at Noche UFC in September. Even though he was in talks to fight on short notice against Jeka Saragih at UFC Fight Night 232 on Nov. 18, the bout didn’t materialize. However, Campbell is looking to continue building on the momentum generated from his last fight next year.

“I am healthy and I’m looking forward to staying active,” Campbell told MMA Junkie. “I’d like to get in like five (fights). I think that would be pretty doable if I’m healthy, I’m active. That’s my thing: I think fighters should fight.”

Despite a crowded division, Campbell is ready for the challenge. He acknowledges the stacked lightweight division, but insists that he won’t be short of opportunities given his good promos and fighting skills.

Charlie Campbell is no stranger to putting on a show and with the lightweight division being so stacked, he’s well aware that there won’t be a shortage of opportunities for him. “There’s a lot of lightweights out there. There’s probably a lot of guys that aren’t booked,” Campbell said. “Let’s just make it happen. For me, I’m not afraid to go in there. I’ve lost twice in my pro career. I have nothing to lose.”

“I’m out there to try to either succeed or identify a way that doesn’t work. I want to go out there. I want to stay active.“Everyone else should feel the same way. They shouldn’t be afraid to lose. I certainly am not. I’m going out there, I’m looking to do every bit of damage I can do to somebody, and if it doeesn’t work out, I know I’m trying my best and it should be more than enough. I know I’m going to get better with each fight. I could finish anybody, and I’ll do that to whoever I fight next.”

Charlie Campbell’s (8-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) perseverance paid off after a failed attempt at Dana White’s Contender Series. In his debut, he was victorious in the octagon, impressing fans when he knocked out Alex Reyes in the first round at Noche UFC this past September. Despite missing the chance to fight on short notice at UFC Fight Night 232, Campbell is hopeful that he will stay busy in 2024.
