Chaminade Libero Hula Crisostomo Named PacWest Defender of the Week
Oct. 25—On Tuesday, Hula Crisostomo, the libero for Chaminade, was awarded the title of Defender of the Week by the PacWest.
With victories over Biola, Fresno Pacific, and Westmont, Crisostomo, a graduate transfer and Moanalua graduate, accumulated an impressive 60 digs. As a result, Chaminade was honored as the PacWest Team of the Week.
Leading the PacWest with an average of 4.95 digs per set, Crisostomo has been a key player for Chaminade, a team ranked No. 15 in the AVCA/Taraflex Division II poll with a record of 22-2.
Five UH Sailors Recognized as ITA All-Academic Team Members
Five sailors from the University of Hawaii have been named to the Intercollegiate Sailing Association’s All-Academic Team, which was announced on Tuesday.
Kelsie Grant, Owen Lahr, Taylor Ledgerwood, Trey Summers, and Mercy Tangredi were commended for their achievements both on the water and in the classroom.
To qualify for this recognition, sailors must be juniors or seniors who have participated in at least seven regattas during the season while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Lahr and Grant have earned this distinction for the second consecutive year.
Jonglikit Ties for Fourth Place at Kapolei Golf Course
Hawaii’s Focus Jonglikit achieved a tie for fourth place at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at Kapolei Golf Course, finishing with a score of 1-under-par 143 after the second round on Tuesday. The leaderboard is currently topped by Rosie Belsham of Baylor.
The Rainbow Wahine team is currently in seventh place with a second-round score of 592. Baylor leads the competition among the 16 teams with a score of 569.
The final round of the tournament is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. today.
Hawaii Hilo Men’s Golf Finishes Sixth at Sharks Shootout
The Hawaii Hilo men’s golf team concluded the Hawaii Pacific Sharks Shootout at Mauna Lani Golf Course with a sixth-place finish, shooting a 297 on Tuesday. Overall, they finished with a score of 10-over-par 874 in the 17-team event. Hawaii Pacific University secured the tenth spot with a score of 883, while Chaminade finished thirteenth at 899. The champion of the tournament was Texas Permian Basin with a score of 853.
The top local performers were Shion Suzuki from Hawaii Pacific University and Junsu Im from Hawaii Hilo, both tied for twelfth place with a score of 1-under 215. Chaminade’s highest-ranked golfer was Jack Yeager (T34, 222).
Francis Bautista from Cal State Dominguez Hills claimed the title of the tournament’s medalist with a score of 207.
