Chael Sonnen still thinks Francis Ngannou fumbled the bag despite ‘special night’ vs. Tyson Fury

Chael Sonnen commends Francis Ngannou for his performance against Tyson Fury but believes that some of the post-fight narratives are inaccurate. Sonnen, like many others, expected Ngannou to struggle against the WBC heavyweight champion in his boxing debut. However, Ngannou exceeded expectations and even scored a knockdown in the bout. Sonnen was thoroughly impressed with Ngannou’s performance but felt that his post-fight behavior could have been better. Sonnen believes that Ngannou should have called for a rematch inside the ring and not allowed Oleksandr Usyk to disrespect him. Despite the loss, Ngannou has received praise from the likes of Daniel Cormier and has opened up opportunities for future boxing bouts. However, Sonnen disagrees with the notion that Ngannou made a wise financial decision by choosing boxing over a potential fight with Jon Jones in the UFC. He believes that the story is being misrepresented and that Ngannou could have potentially earned more money in the UFC. Sonnen acknowledges that there is money to be made outside of MMA but questions the success of Ngannou’s recent boxing venture. He is curious to see what Ngannou decides to do next and believes that it is up to Ngannou to create opportunities for himself.
