Inter Miami CF forward, Leonardo Campana, has received a call-up to the Ecuadorian national team for their upcoming Conmebol 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches this month.
La Tri and Campana will first face Venezuela on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. ET at the Estadio Monumental de Maturín in Maturín, Venezuela. They will then return to Ecuador to play against Chile on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at the Estadio de Liga Deportiva Universitaria in Quito at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Campana, a 23-year-old striker, has previously represented Ecuador at both the youth and senior levels. He was the top scorer in the CONMEBOL 2019 South American U-20 Championship and played a significant role in leading the team to victory. At the senior level, Campana has made 13 appearances for Ecuador, most recently starting in a 1-0 win against Bolivia in a friendly at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey in June.
On the club level, Campana had a successful 2023 season with 11 goals and four assists in 37 appearances. He also played a key role in helping the team win the 2023 Leagues Cup. Additionally, he received MLS Player of the Matchday honors twice and was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday four times during the 2023 regular season.
