Steve Cooper, the manager of Nottingham Forest, intends to invite Caiden Storry, a young fan, to the club’s training ground after the teenager had difficulty completing a Remembrance Day tribute.

16-year-old Storry was playing The Last Post on the trumpet before Forest’s match against Aston Villa, but he was unable to finish the final part of the composition.

Both Forest and Villa players comforted the upset youngster, who was applauded as he left the pitch at the City Ground.

Cooper spoke to Storry as he walked to the tunnel and after Forest’s 2-0 victory, he said the young musician should be proud of his performance.

“For a 16-year-old boy who’s a fan, to stand in the middle and do that and do it brilliantly as well, he should be really proud and we are proud,” Cooper remarked.

“It was a really important moment and I thought everyone came together in what is always a poignant moment anyway. I had the chance to speak with him and we will try to get in touch with him and bring him to the training ground.

“I want him to meet the players so he understands how talented he was. I told him I was proud of him. He apologized, and I asked, ‘What for? Everyone is really proud of you’.

“The Villa boys were fantastic and the City Ground was as expected. We must maintain what makes us unique and support each other when things don’t go quite right.”

Storry is a season-ticket holder for Forest and was originally scheduled to perform three years ago, but it was postponed due to Covid-related health concerns.
