Exciting news for Bemidji State football as they head back to the Lone Star State for the NCAA playoffs, this time in the first round.
After a disappointing end last year in Texas at San Angelo State, this year they’re gearing up to take on UT Permian Basin, a program they’ve never played before and is making its first playoff appearance.
BSU is making its third straight appearance, having won in the first round the previous two seasons before eventually falling in the round of 16. The Beavers’ experience gives them confidence as they prepare for Saturday’s game.
Senior offensive lineman Ty Cobb shared, “Being out for the third time’s going to be a lot easier for us to kind of see the goal in mind and stay on the path. We have to treat it like a business trip, not like a vacation, and keep our focus on the game ahead.”
Head coach Brent Bolte emphasized the importance of experience, stating, “We understand the travel, logistics, and at the end of the day, we’re going to go play a college football game. Our past wins give our guys more confidence as we look at it.”
BSU and UTPB are set to face off at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.
