ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos are gearing up for the construction of their new $176 million cutting-edge training facility and team headquarters on their current 33-year-old campus, and cornerback Patrick Surtain II couldn’t help but marvel at the artist’s renderings of the state-of-the-art facility.
“It’s truly spectacular,” Surtain exclaimed after Tuesday’s practice. “I’m really excited about it.”
The new three-story, 205,000-square-foot facility will be a 30% expansion from the current one, bringing together football and business operations in a modern and collaborative environment, as described by the team.
The first floor will house an expanded locker room, sports performance areas, and meeting rooms, providing a more efficient layout with the weight room and indoor practice field. It will also feature underground parking, a great advantage during snowy days in the Rocky Mountains.
Football operations will occupy the second floor, while business operations, including staff currently based at Empower Field at Mile High in downtown Denver, will be located on the third floor.
Team owner and CEO Greg Penner expressed excitement about the “player-centered headquarters with an efficient layout and the latest amenities,” emphasizing the championship environment that can be fostered by having football and business operations on the same campus.
The new headquarters will span over 320,000 square feet on the 26-acre campus, directly west of the current building and connected to the 115,000-square foot Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse, which was constructed in 2014.
Construction of the two-year project is set to begin next spring, with no impact on day-to-day business operations or fans’ access to training camps, where temporary stands will be available.
Furthermore, the Penner-Walton ownership group recently upgraded their stadium with a $100 million facelift, including a massive seven-story high scoreboard, which is now the tallest in North America.
