Brian Odom, Shaun Nua hope to galvanize struggling USC defense

The USC defense gathers before their faceoff with Arizona at the Coliseum on Oct. 7. New co-defensive coordinators Brian Odom and Shaun Nua step up to help the unit recover after the departure of defensive coordinator Alex Grinch. Upon Grinch’s dismissal, Odom was put in charge as his last-second replacement, bringing with him valuable experience leading Oklahoma’s defense.

Now faced with the challenge of an interim coaching role, Odom and fellow interim coordinator Shaun Nua must quickly revamp the team’s defense before facing the nation’s top scoring offense, Oregon, in mere days. The task remains formidable against Oregon, a team that has averaged nearly 56 points per game this season.
