When Brian Kelly accepted the position at LSU, he understood the challenge: to restore the Tigers’ competitiveness and reach the level of SEC powerhouses, Alabama and Georgia.
In his first year, Kelly achieved a victory over Alabama, indicating progress. However, when LSU faced Georgia in the SEC championship, they were convincingly beaten by the eventual national champions.
During a recent SEC teleconference, Kelly emphasized the steps needed for LSU to reach an elite level.
“To compete with Georgia and Alabama, we must consistently perform at that level,” he stated. “Our focus is on maintaining a high level of consistent performance, which we have not achieved yet.”

LSU will have another opportunity to move up the ladder when they travel to Tuscaloosa next week. A win would mark their first consecutive victories against the Crimson Tide since 2010 and 2011.
