The Sarasota City Commission has announced the pricing for golf at the Bobby Jones Golf Club, which is nearing the completion of a $20 million renovation of its 300-acre property.
The facility is set to open in the next few weeks, although an exact date has not been determined.
Non-resident adult golfers will be charged a minimum of $59 and a maximum of $109 from Monday to Thursday, with prices increasing by $10 on Fridays and Saturdays during the opening weeks of the course.
From December 22 to March 31, the prices will be $74 to $114 Monday to Thursday and an additional $10 on Fridays to Sundays.
City residents will receive a 10% discount off the lowest rate available at the time of purchase.
The target rate for a round of golf for non-residents is $89 from Monday to Thursday, with the rate for residents being $80 during the same period. On Fridays through Sundays, the rates increase to $99 for non-residents and $98 for residents.
Junior rates are approximately half the price of adult rates.
The renovation of Bobby Jones Golf Club, which included the construction of a clubhouse and a driving range, involved reducing the number of holes from 45 to 27. However, it also created new walking trails in a nearby nature park.
The renovation also included water quality improvements, such as the creation of wetlands and weirs, thanks to a $1.5 million grant from the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
Indigo Sports LLC, the management company hired by the city, will implement “dynamic pricing” at the club. City Commissioner Jen Ahearn-Koch expressed concerns about this pricing strategy but ultimately voted in favor of the proposed fee structure after seeking assurances that city residents would always receive the lowest price.
