The Battle of the Baddest, known as the main event on ESPN+ PPV, showcases a remarkable showdown between two highly-ranked heavyweight fighters. In this sanctioned professional boxing match, former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou faces off against WBC champion Tyson Fury, although there is no real title at stake. Unfortunately for Ngannou, this much-anticipated contest will take place within the confines of a boxing ring rather than a cage.

Ngannou will venture into the realm of boxing for the first time on Saturday at Boulevard Hall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He enters the ring as a massive underdog, with odds of +800, against Fury who is a -1400 favorite at BetMGM.

Fury boasts an impressive undefeated record of 33-0-1, with 24 victories coming by way of knockout. In contrast, Ngannou, who currently fights for the PFL after relinquishing his UFC heavyweight belt earlier this year, holds a record of 17-3 in MMA, with 12 knockouts. However, as history has shown in these crossover fights, Ngannou’s extensive MMA experience is unlikely to give him an advantage inside the squared circle.

Despite this, combat sports enthusiasts are well aware of the unpredictability that often accompanies such matchups. Thus, while the chances may be slim, Saturday’s bout has the potential to produce one of the most significant upsets in boxing history if Ngannou manages to knock out Fury.
