JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Wildcats and Rattlers continue their victorious streaks, while Florida Memorial concludes their season with a defeat.
Here’s your Week 11 Florida HBCU football recap:
No. 7 Florida A&M 28, Lincoln (Calif.) 0
The seventh-ranked Rattlers (9-1, 7-0 SWAC) have displayed dominance throughout the season and continued their winning ways against the winless Oaklanders (0-12). Holding their opponents to just 171 yards of total offense, with a mere 32 yards rushing, the Rattlers secured victory with all offensive touchdowns coming from the ground game. A 51-yard interception return for a touchdown by Deco Wilson capped off their triumph. This win sets the stage as they gear up to face their rivals in Bethune-Cookman this Saturday in Orlando, giving them added momentum.
Bethune-Cookman 31, Alabama A&M 14
After enduring a six-game losing streak, the Wildcats (3-7, 2-5 SWAC) found redemption by securing their second consecutive victory, amassing nearly 500 yards of total offense against Alabama A&M (4-6, 2-5 SWAC). Trailing 14-10 for three quarters, the Wildcats rallied to score 21 unanswered points in the fourth, securing their second SWAC win. This morale-boosting victory propels the Wildcats as they prepare to face their red-hot rivals in Orlando on Saturday.
No. 3 Keiser 44, Florida Memorial 13
In 2022, the Lions (6-4, 5-2 SUN) had zero wins in the Sun Conference. However, heading into last Saturday, with a 5-1 record in conference games, they were poised to contend for the conference title alongside Keiser (8-2, 7-0 SUN) and St. Thomas. Nevertheless, Keiser had different plans.
Keiser opened the game with 34 unanswered points, nearly reaching the fourth quarter by the time Florida Memorial scored its first points. While not the desired outcome for the Lions, this season marks their strongest finish since 2020. With continued development, the Lions have the potential to emerge as genuine contenders for the Sun Conference title.
