UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Nittany Lion wrestler Beau Bartlett has been honored as the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Nov. 19, 2023. This marks the second consecutive weekly honor for Penn State, following teammate Shayne Van Ness‘s win last week. Bartlett shares this week’s award with Rutgers’ Yaraslau Slavikouski.
Bartlett, a senior, secured the Black Knight Invite championship with a flawless 4-0 run, which included three consecutive pins to start the tournament. He achieved victory by pinning Riley Halal of Brown at 2:36, Joe Fongaro of Rutgers at 4:48, and Rich Treanor of Army West Point at 3:57 to advance to the title bout. In the finals, a late takedown earned him a hard-fought 4-1 win over teammate Tyler Kasak. Bartlett’s season record stands at 7-0 with four pins and a major. His career record now sits at 57-16. Penn State claimed five champions at the event and had 12 of its 17 wrestlers place.
Ranked No. 1 nationally, the Nittany Lions will commence dual meet action on Sunday, Dec. 3, when they host Lehigh in Rec Hall. The dual is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will be nationally televised on the Big Ten Network.
