Authorities seek leads in fatal explosion at US-Canada border

Authorities are perplexed by a shocking incident that occurred on the Rainbow Bridge near Niagara Falls, with a car bursting into flames after accelerating towards the Canadian border from the US.

The collision resulted in the death of a couple in the car and caused injury to a US border agent. Considered a security threat initially, there was a scramble to close several ports of entry between Canada and the US following the crash.

Even after the New York Governor ruled out terrorism, mystery still shrouds the details of the event, including the couple’s identity and the motive behind their actions.

The confusion continues as the incident, described as an “emotional roller-coaster” by Mayor Jim Diodati, affected traffic and closed the bridge for consecutive days.

The FBI investigation ruled out a terrorism link, mentioning no explosive materials. The blast was instead designated as a traffic incident, and the Niagara Falls Police Department has commenced its own investigation to identify those involved.
