Rhyne Howard, the Atlanta Dream guard, has taken on a second job in Florida. She has officially joined Florida’s coaching staff, where she will assist Gators coach Kelly Rae Finley and serve as the team’s director of player personnel.
Howard’s mother, Rhvonja “RJ” Avery, was a former player for Florida from 1987 to 1991, and Howard’s new role will allow her to follow in her mother’s footsteps while contributing to the team during the WNBA’s offseason.
Howard expressed her excitement about the opportunity, mentioning her family’s ties to the university and her mother’s pride in seeing her wear the orange and blue of the Gators. She aims to continue the family legacy at the institution.
As a former standout player for Kentucky and the No. 1 pick in the 2022 WNBA draft, Howard has demonstrated her talent and ability on the court. Her arrival brings excitement to the Gators, as they seek to enhance their team and make a strong impact in the NCAA Tournament.
Coach Finley praised Howard’s character and experience, highlighting her skills and dedication to the game, which will surely benefit the program.
