Arkansas guard Tramon Mark has been discharged from a local hospital in the Bahamas after a hard fall during the team’s game against North Carolina.
Mark sustained the injury with 1:12 remaining in the third-place game of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. He remained on the court for several minutes following his off-balance layup before being taken away on a stretcher.
Arkansas coach Eric Musselman mentioned in his postgame news conference that Mark was being evaluated for a back injury. However, the school later confirmed that an MRI showed no significant damage, leading to Mark’s release from the hospital. He is expected to return to Arkansas on Saturday morning.
Despite the injury, Mark managed to score 34 points as No. 20 Arkansas fell to No. 14 North Carolina with a score of 87-72. His 34 points put him in the company of other 30-point scorers in the tournament, including RJ Davis from North Carolina, Eric Dixon from Villanova, and David Jones from Memphis.
Mark, a transfer from Houston, showcased an impressive 13-of-17 shooting from the field, along with a 4-of-6 performance from behind the arc and a 4-of-7 record at the free-throw line. This performance exceeded his previous career-high of 26 points during a second-round matchup with Auburn in the 2023 NCAA tournament.
