While the goal is not necessarily to attain a legitimate boxing championship, MMA superstars recognize the potential for substantially larger financial rewards in boxing compared to the octagon.
The groundbreaking fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather paved the way for future crossover events, such as Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury. McGregor vs. Mayweather demonstrated the financial potential of MMA vs. boxing events, while Ngannou vs. Fury showcased the possibility of competitive success inside the boxing ring.
Although an influx of these events is unlikely, the public’s growing interest, fueled by the right mix of superstar talent and personality, raises questions about the future of MMA vs. boxing events, particularly considering Saudi Arabia’s significant financial investment in such events.
