De Minaur knocked Murray out in the first round of the China Open in Beijing last month

Andy Murray expresses his dissatisfaction with his performance in tennis following a heartbreaking loss to Alex de Minaur at the Paris Masters. The 36-year-old was defeated 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 7-5 by the 13th-ranked player, making it the sixth consecutive loss Murray has suffered against him.

Despite serving for the match twice and having a match point opportunity, Murray failed to secure the victory in a grueling three-hour contest. Reflecting on his recent form, Murray stated, “I’m not really enjoying it just now in terms of how I feel on the court and how I’m playing… playing a match like that there’s not much positivity there.”

Murray also expressed his frustration at his inability to capitalize on important moments and maintain his fighting spirit. During the match against De Minaur, Murray even smashed his racquet twice out of anger.

Although Murray did not hint at retirement, he acknowledged the need for extensive work to improve his performance. He admitted, “It’s not just going to be like one or two weeks of training to get me to where I need to get to, it’s going to have to be a lot of work and consistent work to give myself a chance.”

This loss at the Paris Masters marks Murray’s fourth defeat against De Minaur this year, adding to his recent string of unsuccessful matches. Despite being in a promising position, Murray’s missed match point and subsequent frustrations ultimately led to his downfall.

Moving forward, fellow Briton Cameron Norrie was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to a knee injury, but he is expected to recover in time for the Davis Cup Finals on 23 November.

The first-round byes were granted to world number one Novak Djokovic and rising star Carlos Alcaraz. They, along with the other top seeds, will enter the tournament in the second round.
