Andy Katz predicts Auburn as a No. 8 seed in his latest March Madness bracket projection

The NCAA Tournament brackets are already being projected, with NCAA.com insider Andy Katz releasing his first bracket projection and ranking the Auburn Tigers as an 8 seed in the Midwest Region. Katz’s hypothetical matchup has Auburn facing off against last year’s Ivy League Champion Princeton. The Ivy League Tigers are currently undefeated with a similar style of play to Auburn, with wins over tournament hopefuls Rutgers and Hofstra. Auburn’s defense and offense led by Caden Pierce and two solid shooters make them a worthy contender.

Auburn is one of nine SEC teams in the projected field, tied with the Big 10 for the most teams in the bracket. However, Auburn’s 8 seed seems underrated, considering their impressive performance this season. The Tigers have only suffered one loss against Baylor and have secured five straight wins by double-digit victories. Their defensive strength and timely offense led by Johni Broome and Aden Holloway make them a force to be reckoned with.

The Tigers’ future in the NCAA Tournament remains to be seen, but early impressions suggest they could end up on the No. 6 or No. 7 line.
