The Detroit Red Wings have continued their impressive start to the season, securing their fifth consecutive victory.
The Wings dominated the Calgary Flames with a 6-2 win at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday. The standout performance came from Alex DeBrincat, who scored a hat trick in the third period. As a result, the ice had to be cleaned to remove the numerous hats that were thrown from the stands. DeBrincat’s performance also saw him take the lead in the NHL scoring race, with a total of 12 points. Dylan Larkin also delivered a strong performance, earning multiple points to bring his season total to 11.
The Red Wings currently lead the NHL with 30 goals and boast an impressive 5-1-0 record this season. Their next game is scheduled for Tuesday against the Seattle Kraken at the Little Caesars Arena.

Alex DeBrincat bounced back from having his four-game point streak snapped and had an outstanding performance against the Flames. He opened the scoring just minutes into the game and went on to score two more goals, resulting in a rain of hats falling onto the ice. This marked DeBrincat’s third goal of the game and solidified his position as the NHL’s leading scorer.
Production from the back end
Defenseman Justin Holl played a crucial role in the Wings’ victory. He provided an assist for the second goal and earned his first assist of the season. Holl also played a part in DeBrincat’s hat-trick goal, finishing the game with a plus-4 rating.
Streaking captain
