One notable player from the ’22 draft class is first round pick Dylan Beavers.

The Orioles chose Beavers as the 33rd pick in the 2022 draft due to his exceptional power display as a junior for the Cal Golden Bears. Standing at 6’4″ with left-handed-hitting abilities and great power potential, Beavers entered the Orioles organization as a promising outfielder.

In his first season in pro baseball, Beavers performed well in 16 games at Delmarva before facing some difficulties during his brief time at Aberdeen. Nonetheless, he entered the 2023 season with high hopes to continue his upward trajectory.

July was a standout month for Beavers as he dominated High-A pitching. He maintained a strong batting average, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage while hitting four home runs and driving in a season-high 18 RBIs. Additionally, he reduced his strikeout rate to 23%.

Impressed by his performance, the Orioles promoted Beavers to Double-A Bowie in August, where he quickly adapted to the new level of competition. Throughout the month, Beavers consistently recorded multiple hits, displaying his abilities at the plate. Although his home run numbers dipped, his overall performance was impressive.

Following his successful months in the minors, Beavers has proven to be a promising outfield prospect for the Orioles. However, his timeline for reaching the major leagues remains uncertain due to the presence of established outfielders in the organization.

If Beavers continues to excel at Double-A and impresses at the highest level of the minor leagues, he may earn a call-up to the Norfolk Tides in the 2024 season. To secure a spot in the major leagues, Beavers would need to outperform expectations or face unforeseen circumstances with the current outfielders on the Orioles roster.
