Aaron Bummer bid farewell to the White Sox and their fans via Instagram on Wednesday, expressing gratitude for his seven-season stint in Chicago:

“A decade ago, the Chicago White Sox took a chance on me. Making my debut in the Crosstown Cup on July 27, 2017, was a lifelong dream come true, and I’ve cherished the journey ever since. From Montana to Chicago and every stop in between, I’ve appreciated every moment and all the individuals I’ve met along the way. To the fans who cheered, booed, and deeply cared, as well as my teammates, coaches, staff, and friends, thank you for allowing a kid to live out his dream each and every day.

“Through the highs and lows, Chicago has been more than a city—it’s been a home. I am eternally thankful for every memory and thrilled for Chapter 2 in Atlanta.”

The 30-year-old Bummer was traded to the Braves in exchange for five players.

In return for Bummer, the White Sox acquired pitchers Mike Soroka, Jared Shuster, and Riley Gowens, as well as infielders Nicky Lopez and Braden Shewmake. This trade marked Chris Getz’s inaugural transaction as the White Sox general manager.

The White Sox selected Bummer in the 19th round of the 2014 MLB entry draft, and as he noted in his post, he made his debut with the Sox in 2017.
