A Riverfront Home in a South Dakota Golf Community Asks $6 Million

A riverfront South Dakota home with a cigar room and golf simulator is asking $6 million, making it one of the state’s highest-priced properties.

The approximately 9,000-square-foot house is situated about 7 miles from Sioux City, Iowa, in the Dakota Dunes community, as per listing agent Jacob Benedict of Berkshire Hathaway Homeservices Midwest Realty.

The sellers, retired gastroenterologist Michael Persaud and his wife, Shannon Persaud, purchased the 1.5-acre parcel along the Missouri River for around $200,000 in 2007 and spent about $5.5 million constructing the four-bedroom house. Shannon Persaud stated that the couple designed the house with floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors to take full advantage of the unobstructed river views.

The Persauds, who are both golfers, stated that Dakota Dunes spans approximately 2,000 acres and features a golf course designed by Arnold Palmer. In addition to the golf simulator, the Persauds’ home has a wine room and a fitness studio with a sauna and hot tub. Michael Persaud enjoys using the ventilated cigar room with friends, they said.

The two-story house is equipped with an elevator and dumbwaiter, which runs from the garage to the kitchen. According to Shannon Persaud, they have opted to sell the property because they want to downsize and plan on doing so in the area.

Dakota Dunes has been known to attract affluent buyers from both South Dakota and its neighboring states. In October, the median listing price in Dakota Dunes was just under $783,000, marking a 50.8% increase from the same period last year, as per Realtor.com.
