Francis Ngannou is starting to make a name for himself in the boxing world, positioning himself as a two-sport star.
In October, former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou stepped into the boxing ring to face WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia. Although he lost the fight by split decision, Ngannou’s only knockdown in the 10-round bout and the opinions of many analysts and observers believed he did enough to secure a monumental upset.
If Fury had dominated Ngannou, he might have returned to MMA. However, Ngannou has been called out by Renan Ferreira, the winner of the 2023 PFL heavyweight season. With the PFL’s acquisition of Bellator, Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader also expressed interest in fighting Ngannou.
Despite his loss, Ngannou’s boxing match was solid. He received a significant payday and was ranked No. 10 in the WBC’s heavyweight rankings. This newfound recognition has led to increased intrigue around him, with speculation around potential opponents in both boxing and MMA.
A brief discussion debating Ngannou’s future in both sports by “Spinning Back Clique” panelists Brian “Goze” Garcia, Mike Bohn, and Danny Segura, along with host “Gorgeous” George Garcia can be found in the video above.
