The Brock Badgers men’s basketball team suffered a narrow 73-71 loss on the road against the Waterloo Warriors on Friday, Dec. 1. Junior forward Jordan Tchuente led the Badgers with 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Michael Matas had 11 points and 14 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, while Isaiah Bujdoso tallied 12 points, five steals, and three rebounds.
The Badgers struggled to find their offensive rhythm early on but played intense team defense to keep themselves in the game. Despite Waterloo leading 14-12 at the end of the first quarter, Brock’s offense picked up momentum in the second quarter. Bujdoso’s scoring, coupled with aggressive full-court pressure, helped the Badgers take a 40-38 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, Brock extended their lead through high-paced transition play, heading into the fourth quarter with a 61-54 lead. However, shooting troubles in the final quarter allowed Waterloo to chip away and eventually take the lead in the last minute of play.
Next up, the Badgers (4-4) will face the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks (7-2) at Wilfred Laurier University on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m.
