Vanderbilt Football Announces Exciting Changes to Coaching Staff

After a disappointing 2-10 season, Vanderbilt football coach Clark Lea has announced several changes to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2024 season, as reported by the university’s release.

Offensive coordinator Joey Lynch will not be retained, following the recent departures of quarterbacks AJ Swann and Ken Seals. The team’s offensive performance this past season was subpar, as they only averaged 16.9 ppg in SEC play. Additionally, Lynch’s role as the quarterbacks coach was called into question due to Swann’s regression and eventual transfer.

On the defensive side, coordinator Nick Howell has been demoted to secondary coach, and Dan Jackson, the previous secondary coach, has also been demoted to an off-field role. Meanwhile, Jamaal Richardson has been promoted to coach the defensive backs alongside Howell. The release also revealed that Lea will personally take on the role of defensive coordinator.

It remains uncertain if these changes will be the final ones or if Howell and Jackson will accept their demotions.
