Amidst discussions on the weakest basketball teams seen in years, King/Drew coach Lloyd Webster is urging patience. The aftermath of COVID has left players lacking fundamentals, but the team’s potential is evident following a 66-51 win against Sylmar in the Maranatha tournament on Monday.

Despite being a contender for the City Section Open Division title, King/Drew has a young team, including standout performances by freshman Semaj Howard and sophomore Jayshawn Kibble, who scored 14 and 20 points respectively in the game.

King/Drew’s potential is backed by a strong game finish and coach Webster’s confidence in his team’s growth. His son, Josahn, a sophomore and the team’s starter, adds an intriguing dynamic to the team.

The Celts executed a perfect game to secure a win in the Maranatha tournament against Mayfair. Meanwhile, South Pasadena, led by Oni Balogun and Russell Williams, triumphed against Bishop Alemany and Etiwanda clinched a victory over King, further fueling the exciting high school basketball season.

Additionally, a standout performance from Troy Agtang of Bernstein, with 43 points and 10 threes, alongside various other amazing victories in the latest prep sports games, makes this basketball season an extraordinary one.
