The six-time Grand Slam winner joined Rune’s coaching team, overcoming Rune’s losing streak and pushing him to qualify for the ATP Finals.
Becker highlighted the importance of honest feedback for players and discussed his mentoring approach with Rune and a meeting with his former student Novak Djokovic in Turin.
“The start was intense due to Holger’s ATP Finals hopes being on the line. He had a rough summer with several losses, but he managed to turn things around in the tournaments leading up to the Finals,” revealed Becker.
Admitting to the challenges in Basel and Paris, Becker emphasized the need for honest critiques, even in public, as he strived for the best performance from his players.
