49ers exact revenge, feast on turkey after win vs. Seahawks originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
After nine years, the 49ers finally exacted their revenge for a moment that remains ingrained in the minds of their fans.
Following the 49ers’ 19-3 loss to the Seahawks on Thanksgiving Day in 2014, Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman and quarterback Russell Wilson celebrated by feasting on turkey legs on the San Francisco team logo at midfield at Levi’s Stadium. However, almost a decade later, the 49ers had the last laugh after a commanding 31-13 win over Seattle on Thanksgiving night at Lumen Field.
Following the win, a group of 49ers stars, including George Kittle, Fred Warner, Christian McCaffrey, Brock Purdy, Nick Bosa, and Charvarius Ward, joined NBC Sports’ Melissa Stark on the field for a postgame feast and wasted no time digging in. Kittle even ran off with the turkey before sharing it with the crowd in attendance.
McCaffrey described the on-field feast, praising the quality of the turkey and expressing disappointment at not getting to try the sweet potatoes with marshmallows. Purdy, reminiscing about watching Thanksgiving Day football with family, expressed his joy at being able to take part in the postgame tradition with his teammates after a win on the road, calling it a special and memorable experience.
Victory never tasted so sweet – or so delicious.
