Nashville welcomed a new addition to the Nyquist family as Greta, daughter of hockey player Nyquist, arrived on a Friday night, joining her sisters Charlotte and Sophie. Nyquist expressed his joy at being able to spend time with his family before joining his team for an afternoon game.
“It’s been an amazing experience,” Nyquist shared. “Mom and baby are both doing great. This being the third time, it’s still incredible. I’m overjoyed that they’re both doing well. A little different pregame routine this time, but it was nice to finally get back in the win column today.”
The Predators, led by Cole Smith’s two goals, put an end to their four-game losing streak with a win, with Kevin Lankinen making 29 saves.
“This is an ode to Greta,” Smith remarked. “It’s a special moment for [Nyquist] and his family. I know they will all be celebrating this one. We’re all like family here, so when he’s able to spend time with his family, it’s special for everyone.”
Meanwhile, Philipp Kurashev and Tyler Johnson scored for the Blackhawks, who have lost three consecutive games and are 1-4-0 in their past five. Arvid Soderblom made 28 saves.
“It’s another frustrating [game],” expressed Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson. “You’re in the game until the end, and we fought hard to get back in. Consecutive penalty kills put stress on us and took our best players out of the ice time.”
Yakov Trenin gave the Predators an early 1-0 lead in the first period, expressing his delight at scoring his first goal of the season.
“It feels so good,” Trenin said. “I’m happy. I was working hard for that one for a long time, and I’m so glad I scored.”
Nyquist extended the Predators’ lead to 2-0 on a power play, earning praise from Predators coach Andrew Brunette for his unwavering professionalism and dedication to the sport.
