Stockport achieved a ground-breaking 12th consecutive victory in League Two with a win over Colchester at Edgeley Park.
Kyle Wootton scored County’s first goal on the stroke of half-time and substitute Callum Camps added a second immediately after the break, matching the fourth-tier record for successive wins set by Luton in 2002.
The visitors aimed to frustrate the table-toppers from the start, but Stockport’s patience paid off with Macauley Southam-Hales’ perfectly timed ball leading to Wootton’s goal in the 44th minute.
Stockport doubled their advantage after half-time when Camps’ first touch of the game resulted in a superb strike from a corner.
Colchester had a great chance to score, but Stockport keeper Ben Hinchcliffe denied them as County eased to a victory that leaves them six points clear at the top.
