DENTON, Texas – Victor Neiva, a standout UNT cross country runner, is set to take on the best competition in the nation at the NCAA Championships at the Panorama Farms Cross Country Course in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday morning.

This marks Neiva’s second consecutive appearance at the prestigious event, having secured an automatic bid with an impressive 10th-place finish at the NCAA South Central Regional Championship on Nov. 10. While Neiva placed 10th at the regional meet last season, he needed an at-large bid to qualify for the NCAA Championships, where he finished 193rd.

The UNT senior will be competing in the grueling men’s 10K event, which kicks off at 10:10 a.m. CT on Saturday. Neiva has his sights set on earning All-America honors, a prestigious accolade that he is determined to achieve.

“We’re thrilled to see him return for a second consecutive year, and we’ve been discussing this since last year,” commented cross country coach Erik Stevens. “He knows what he needs to improve upon from his performance at the national meet last year, and his goal is to secure All-American status this time. If he maintains the same level of aggression he displayed today, he has every chance of achieving that.”

The NCAA Cross Country Championships will be broadcast on ESPNU from 8:30 a.m. CT onwards, with the women’s 6K race taking place at 9:20 a.m. and the men’s race following at 10:10 a.m. For live updates, fans can follow @MeanGreenTFXC on Twitter.
