‘Runners to take on Lady Mavs inside College Park Center – UTSA Athletics

The UTSA Women’s Basketball team is set to travel to Arlington, Texas, for a nonconference game at 2 p.m. on Saturday against UT Arlington at the College Park Center.


The game will be aired live on ESPN+, with John Nelson and Brandi Poole doing the play-by-play. Veteran broadcaster Neal Raphael will provide the radio commentary in the greater San Antonio area on

The Roadrunners (2-1, 0-0 AAC) are heading into the game with momentum, looking to secure their third consecutive win after defeating New Mexico State 58-55 and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 66-59.


UTSA had a thrilling road victory on Wednesday, making a comeback in overtime. Freshman

tied the game with a jumper, and senior
Kyra White
scored the bucket that secured the first lead with 45 seconds left in regulation. UTSA continued strong in overtime, with scores from sophomore
Sidney Love
, senior
Elyssa Coleman
, and sophomore
Cheyenne Rowe
to clinch the victory.


White led the scoring with 18 points, while Coleman shot 14 at 53.8% and Love made 10 points. Sophomore
Maya Linton
and Rowe grabbed seven rebounds each, with freshman
Idara Udo
getting six, and Proctor five. Love also took three steals and tied White for the team lead in assists with five.


UTSA currently leads the American Athletic Conference in rebound margin, snagging 12 more rebounds than opponents. They rank 28th nationally in offensive rebounds per game at 17.7 and are also 28th in blocks per game, with 5.7 BPG, placing them second in the AAC.


Individually, White has logged more minutes than any other player in the league at 37.4 MPG and ranks third with a 2.0 assist/turnover ratio. Udo sits fourth in the AAC with 8.7 RPG, while Coleman ranks second with 2 BPG.


The Lady Mavs (0-3, 0-0 WAC) are yet to secure a win in the early season, falling to tough opponents such as USF, Lamar, and the No. 11 ranked Texas squad. Most recently, UTA lost 110-64 to the Longhorns, with Gia Adams scoring 20 points.
Avery Brittingham also had 12 points with five rebounds.


Adams has had the most shooting attempts in the Western Athletic Conference, averaging 14.3 shots a game. She and Brittingham have been alternating as the leading scorers, with Adams averaging 13.3 PPG and Brittingham 13.0 PPG. Adéla Válková averages 9.3 PPG and leads the team with four blocks. Brittingham also tops the team in rebounds with 7.3 RPG and ties Nya Threatt for the team lead in assists with nine.
