I need to ‘shut all that sh*t down’

LAS VEGAS – Nick Aguirre recognizes the opportunity to halt a hype train before it departs, despite being a big underdog in his upcoming match.

At UFC Fight Night 232, Aguirre (7-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is set to face Dana White’s Contender Series signee Payton Talbott. Aguirre, who had a short-notice debut in January, is keen on securing his first win in the promotion and proving that he belongs in the UFC.

Aguirre, 27, feels that the pressure is on Talbott (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who has been compared to UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley. He believes that the underdog position and the expectation for Talbott to make a highlight out of him puts the pressure on his opponent.

After losing his debut to Dan Argueta in January by unanimous decision, Aguirre is determined to demonstrate his talent and show his readiness in his second UFC appearance.

“It’s going to be a dog fight,” Aguirre said. “He is good. He has a lot of talent, but I’m real good too. I’m going to show him how much talent I have. It’s going to be a dog fight, and I’m ready for 15 minutes of hell.”
