This weekend was one to remember for Rhode Island high school teams as they celebrated one triumph after the other. As the 2023 fall high school sports season draws to a close, the upcoming weekend and next week will see Super Bowls determining football champs in each division and traditional Thanksgiving rivalries being renewed. The North Kingstown volleyball team continued to dominate and secured their second consecutive state title.
In Girls Volleyball, North Kingstown showcased its deep talent pool, ultimately winning their second consecutive state title with a remarkable display of skill and teamwork. East Providence displayed great focus and determination, securing victory in the Division II final. Burrillville achieved a spectacular win over Tolman in the fifth set, claiming the program’s first title since 1990. The Providence Country Day Girls Volleyball team showcased slow and steady improvement, eventually clinching its second consecutive Division IV crown.

Cumberland’s victory in girls soccer was a dream come true for the team. Portsmouth showed resilience, defeating Scituate with a convincing 5-1 victory. Westerly turned heartbreak into motivation and secured a well-deserved win in their title match. Rogers’ win against Johnston marked the team’s first girls’ soccer championship since 2006.

La Salle emerged victorious in the boys’ soccer Division I championship match with a true display of tenacity and skill. Ponaganset secured a thrilling 4-3 victory in the Division III final, while North Smithfield achieved a perfect record for the season, landing a first title in 17 years. Mount Pleasant made history with a captivating victory in the Division IV boys’ soccer final.
