Even though Dustin Hopkins missed an extra point in the fourth quarter, he redeemed himself with a game-winning field goal for the Cleveland Browns.
Hopkins nailed a 40-yard field goal in the final moments to secure a thrilling 33-31 comeback victory over the Baltimore Ravens. This remarkable field goal completed a 15-point comeback and propelled the Browns to their only lead of the game.
Despite falling into a 24-9 deficit early in the second half, the Browns mounted a resilient comeback and were on the verge of tying the game after Greg Newsome II scored a 34-yard interception touchdown. However, Hopkins missed the extra point, leaving the Ravens with a one-point lead.
After stopping Lamar Jackson and the Ravens one last time, the Browns reclaimed possession and embarked on a 12-play, 58-yard drive to set up Hopkins’ clutch field goal without any sign of struggle.
The Ravens quickly took control of the game and appeared to be headed for a comfortable home victory. However, the momentum shifted when Odell Beckham Jr. scored a 40-yard touchdown, extending the Ravens’ lead to 24-9.
Following Kareem Hunt’s 3-yard touchdown run and a successful two-point conversion by Deshaun Watson, the Browns intercepted Jackson and narrowed the gap to a single point.
In a valiant effort, Jackson completed 13-of-23 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown, but he also threw an interception. The defeat marked only the Ravens’ third loss of the season and halted their four-game winning streak. Jackson also led the team in rushing with 41 yards on eight carries, while Zay Flowers amassed 73 receiving yards on five catches.
Meanwhile, Watson went 20-of-34 for 213 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Jerome Ford’s standout performance yielded 107 rushing yards on 17 carries, and Amari Cooper registered 98 receiving yards on six catches. The victory was the Browns’ fourth in their last five games, setting the stage for their upcoming matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
