Watch Draymond Green get ejected on delayed call for shove of Donovan Mitchell

Draymond Green found himself already holding one technical foul, which is nothing out of the ordinary for him in his current playing style. He proceeded to irritate Donovan Mitchell in the third quarter, in an attempt to ignite a Warriors comeback.

However, things took a serious turn in the third quarter when Caris LeVert made a layup, putting Cleveland ahead by 10. On the play, Green shoved Mitchell into the first row, but there was no call. This led to a scuffle between Green and Mitchell, with the latter being initially charged with a common foul. However, upon a video review, Green was given a second technical and ultimately ejected from the game.

Steve Kerr expressed confusion regarding the call after the game, stating, “I had never heard this rule, but apparently you can retroactively call a technical from two plays before upon review. There’s a lot of plays I’d like to go back to from three years ago. It was bizarre.”

Green’s ejection did not alter the course of the game, as the Cavaliers went on to win 118-110 behind strong performances from LaVert and Mitchell.

More concerning for the Warriors is their struggle against the long, athletic defense of the Cavaliers, who have now defeated them twice. The Warriors now face the hot Timberwolves, known for their strong defense, in their next two games.
