A Nebraska football commitment, Jacory Barney Jr., is among the nominees for the renowned South Florida award, the CBS Miami Nat Moore Trophy.
Hailing from Miami, Florida, Barney Jr. is a talented wide receiver representing Palmetto High School. He declared his commitment to the Cornhuskers in July.
The CBS Miami Nat Moore Trophy distinguishes the top high school player in the Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties, considering their character, leadership qualities, and adherence to team standards regarding academics, sportsmanship, and conduct.
Andrew Ivins, an evaluator from 247Sports, had high praise for Barney Jr. after personally watching him play.
Barney Jr. is an agile and dynamic athlete who consistently delivers standout performances. Although limited verified data is available, he has excelled on the Miami-Dade field and has shown promise during multiple in-person assessments. While he may be relatively slender currently, his potential for growth is evident.
Barney Jr. is listed at 6-0 and 165 pounds. Interestingly, he is not the first Miami Palmetto player to have ties to Nebraska, as Defensive Backs Coach Evan Cooper also hails from the same school.
The nomination period for the Nat Moore Trophy will conclude on November 13th.
