Lewis Hamilton rocks Ayrton Senna-themed outfit at Brazilian Grand Prix
Captivating the paddock’s attention on media day before the Brazilian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton made a bold fashion statement as he arrived at the Interlagos circuit dressed in an outfit paying homage to local hero Ayrton Senna.
Hamilton’s deep admiration for Ayrton Senna dates back to his childhood, and he showcased his love for the late Sao Paolo legend by sporting a custom-made suit adorned with vibrant fluorescent greens and yellows. Additionally, an iconic photograph of the three-time F1 World Champion graced the back of his suit.
Hamilton’s special bond with Brazil
Last year, Hamilton received the title of honorary citizen of Brazil after draping himself in a Brazilian flag on the podium following his thrilling victory in the 2021 race, which featured a fierce battle with Max Verstappen.
Hamilton’s connection with Brazil goes beyond his on-track achievements. As he matched and surpassed many records set by Ayrton Senna, he developed a close relationship with the Senna family. Paying tribute to the country, Hamilton expressed his admiration for its culture, diversity, energy, and lively music scene.
“Brazil has always held a special place in my heart,” Hamilton shared. “Naturally, following Ayrton [Senna], you gravitate toward the country. But as I’ve grown older, I’ve come to appreciate the resilience of the Brazilian people and their diverse community. There’s an incredible energy there, with vibrant music and colors. Over the years, I’ve had amazing experiences and created lasting memories. Winning my first World Championship in Brazil and having that unforgettable race last year, marked by my moment with the Brazilian flag – Brazil has become my most passionate following.”
Jhonatan de Jesus, a congressman from the Republican party, acknowledged Hamilton’s deep emotional connection with Brazil in a report. He commended Hamilton not only for his outstanding sporting achievements but also for his public stance on important issues such as the environment, animal rights, racial equality, women’s rights, and human rights.
